Jeremy Irons wore a tremendous suit playing Bertie Wooster in a 1979 commercial for Croft Original sherry. I don't think Jeeves likes the suit at all. Jeeves can be a damp squib at times. The advert was shot by Ridley Scott who also directed the infamous David Bowie Ice Cream Oddity ten years earlier. I wonder if it was this performance that helped Jeremy secure his role in Brideshead?
Our local Spanish restaurant has an extensive sherry menu — light and dark, sweet and dry. As an appetizer, a chilled fino can't be beaten. I'll try and pick out a favourite when I've made my way to the bottom of the list.
