Josephine Baker - The Black Pearl

Music for Oxford Bags

Let's don our Oxford bags, pour a measure of absinthe over a cube of sugar and enjoy a Sunday moment pondering the life and times of Josephine Baker. A century has passed since the birth of the dancer and singer. 1920s Paris was where she established her name, particularly with her performances in La Revue Nègre and La Folie du Jour, including the infamous (for its time) banana dance.

Here we see a clip from Princess Tam Tam, a sort of My Fair Lady affair. Nice.
