Lochcarron of Scotland - Tweed Ties

Lochcarron Tartan - From Kilt to Catwalk

You probably know Lochcarron (1882) as the world's leading manufacturer of tartan, which is made by 'skilled craftsmen and women who design, dye, warp, weave, mend and tailor' the tartan and textiles Lochcarron produces.

Here we see the Ednam Check Tweed wool tie made by Lochcarron. They have a very nice selection of tweed ties in twelve stock checks. If you'd rather match than mix, you can put in a special order through the Lochcarron website to have a matching cap and scarf made.

I'm quite pleased with the way these photos turned out. Mrs T. pulled me around a bit as she took them, but she got some good angles on the tie and I think the colour comes out well. Greenish tones can be hell to capture.

I wore the tie around the streets of Madrid last weekend — fast becoming a second home — and it received some impressed looks and winks. As you can see from the top photo, I wore a sweater over the shoulders to blend in. Incidentally, I found a terrific hotel you might be interested in. They had an impressive display of Hendricks gin in a v. cosy bar that I had trouble leaving after a couple of those famously generous Spanish measures. I'll put a wee post together if I think about it.

  1. Speaking of tweed, where are those handsome herringbone trousers from?
